Lettuceburn is a photo food tracker first: snap your plate and the AI breaks it into ingredients, portions, calories and macros. Around that sits a full food journal app, with every logging method, plan and insight you’d expect. All of it is free when you use your own AI key. Pro sells exactly one thing, not needing your own AI key, so no feature on this page sits behind a paywall.
Lettuceburn is coming soon to iPhone and Android.
Logging: a photo food tracker and more
Use whichever method is quickest for the food in front of you. Several scanners in one: photo, label and barcode. Every result can be edited before you save it.
Photo scan
Take up to three photos of one meal and add an optional text hint. The AI identifies each ingredient, estimates its portion in grams and works out the nutrition. Totals are added up from the ingredients.
Fix Results
Something off? Edit a portion, remove an item, or tap Fix Results and type the correction in plain words, like "that was half a cup of rice."
Nutrition label scanner
Photograph a Nutrition Facts panel and Lettuceburn reads the per-serving column, then logs one serving. Change the number of servings with a stepper.
Free barcode scanner
Scan a barcode to look the product up in the Open Food Facts database. If you’ve been hunting for a calorie tracker app with a free barcode scanner, this is it: barcode scanning never needs a subscription.
Describe a meal
Type what you ate, like "chicken burrito bowl with guacamole," and the AI turns it into ingredients and macros.
Voice logging and voice commands
Say your meal instead of typing it. Speech recognition runs on your phone where it can, and you can review the words before anything is analyzed. Voice commands work from the Home tab too.
Food search
Search offline staples built into the app and the Open Food Facts database. Add a free USDA key in Settings to search USDA FoodData Central for branded and restaurant foods too.
Favorites and one-tap re-log
Save the meals you eat often. Re-log a past meal in one tap at half, normal or one-and-a-half portions.
Copy a day forward
Eat the same thing most days? Copy a whole past day onto today, with an undo if you change your mind.
Recipes and custom foods
Save a meal as a recipe, or add your own custom foods with their nutrition.
Water tracking
Log glasses of water alongside your meals.
Exercise library
Search more than 870 named exercises and log the one you actually did. The calorie burn is a conservative estimate based on MET values, and you can edit it.

Plan and insight
Numbers you can act on, reported as information rather than a grade.
A personal plan
A short onboarding quiz gives you a starting calorie target and macro split based on your details and goal.
Adaptive targets
Once you’ve logged for a while, your plan adjusts from your real weight trend. Moves are small, work the same in both directions, and never go below a safety floor.
Fiber, sugar and sodium
Track fiber, sugar and sodium alongside your macros, wherever your foods report them.
Weight tracking and weekly insights
Log your weight and see weekly trends for calories, protein adherence and weight on the Progress tab.
Weekly review and "what fits next"
A weekly look back at how things went, plus suggestions from your own favorites and recipes that fit what’s left of today. When the day is already full, it simply suggests nothing.
Balance score
Each meal gets a score based on what it’s made of: protein, fiber, sugars and sodium per calorie. A bigger portion of the same food scores the same, so it’s never about eating less.
Intermittent fasting timer
A free intermittent fasting timer is built in, with a Live Activity on iPhone so you can see it from the Lock Screen.
Apple Health and Health Connect
Lettuceburn reads your weight, active energy and steps, and writes your nutrition back.

Motivation that never rewards eating less
Logging is easier to keep up when it feels a bit like a game. These rewards are built so the only thing that "wins" is showing up, never eating less.
Streaks with freeze days
Streaks count the days you log. Freeze days give you grace for the days life gets in the way.
XP, levels and achievements
Earn XP for logging. Achievements reward balanced days within a range and getting enough protein, never a low number.
Personal league and Friends League
Compete against your own past weeks, or join an opt-in Friends League. It only shares weekly XP, your league tier and days logged, never calories or weight.
Weekly challenge and kudos
Take on a weekly challenge to log five days, and give friends kudos for their week.
A share card without numbers
Share your progress with a card that never shows calorie or weight numbers.

Everything else
Home-screen widgets
A calorie tracker widget for iOS and Android shows calories left and protein for today, without opening the app.
Works without a connection
Your log lives on your phone, so you can view it and log from favorites, recents, custom foods and the built-in staples offline. Barcode lookups, AI scans and descriptions, Fix Results, online food search and the Friends League need a connection.
Dark mode and gentle reminders
Switch to dark mode, and turn on optional reminders if they help. They’re off unless you want them.
Backup and export
Export everything to a JSON backup and import it again later, or export a CSV to use in a spreadsheet.
Optional sign-in
No account needed. Signing in with Apple or Google is optional and only carries Pro and the Friends League to a new phone.
Delete all data
One button removes your data from the phone and deletes your server account too, if you have one.
What’s never behind a paywall
Manual logging, food search, the barcode scanner, health sync, adaptive targets, insights, fasting, widgets and the Friends League are never gated. With your own AI key, photo and label scanning are free too, and you pay the AI provider a few cents or less per scan. Prefer not to use AI at all? Manual logging, food search, barcode, recipes and favorites all work without a key. Pro is there if you’d rather not deal with a key — or bring your own key, free forever.
